Sessions will typically begin with connection work with your birth partner, this is very much based on Eastern principles, connecting to the extraordinary vessels.

The practical session with then begin with the following ‘empowering active birth’ considerations:

• Anatomy of the pelvis & uterus, and physiology of birth.

• Overview of the birthing process and baby's journey through the pelvis.

• Birthing positions: looking at how the physiology of the body changes during the first and second stages of labour (we know there are many more stages in labour!), and how you can support these processes with body awareness, balance, effective empowering labour positions; including movement and resting positions with appropriate supported and non-supported techniques.

• Passive support techniques by birthing partner, relevant to baby's position, using Spinning Babies methods.

• Focused sacral work.

• Resting considerations.

• How to use birthing equipment, why and when.

Option to include labour acupressure, if you have not done the birth preparation workshop, which would cover:

• Background to meridians and acupressure.

• Specific acupressure points to stimulate during labour (rationale/ benefit, location, technique & when to apply).

• Time allocated for techniques to be practiced by birthing partner.
